Splend provides a subscription-based car plan designed specifically for Uber and other rideshare drivers in Australia. Drivers sign a subscription agreement, not a finance or loan contract.

You pay a single weekly subscription fee that covers*:

• A) Vehicle access (rideshare-ready car)

• B) Registration, CTP, Rideshare licence/inspections, Scheduled servicing, and replacement tyres and brakes due to wear^

• C) Rideshare-specific loss and damage cover (for certain Flexi Own contracts from 1 October 2025 you can opt instead to obtain your own eligible Rideshare insurance should you wish) with optional replacement vehicle provision.

Splend offers two flexible vehicle plans to suit your needs:

• Flexi Own – work towards ownership while benefiting from all inclusions.

• Flexi Try – try before you buy, ideal for testing rideshare or EVs.

Signing up is simple:

1. Enquire online through the Splend website, and one of our experts will call you

2. Book an appointment at your local Splend hub to test drive and finalise sign-up

3. Provide required documents (driver’s licence, proof of Uber account, proof of address)

4. Review and sign your quote

5. Review and sign the subscription agreement (we recommend you obtain independent legal advice before signing)

6. Pick up your car once available and approved and start driving.

You will need to provide documents to prove your identity:

• Full Australian driving licence (front and back)

• Second proof of address less than 90 days old (e.g. utility bill, bank statement)

• Second proof of ID (e.g. medicare card, passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate)

• Proof of Uber account if applicable (screenshot of your profile)

Splend will confirm any additional details required depending on vehicle eligibility requirements.

Splend collects and uses personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy available on its website.

No. Splend does not issue consumer credit. Plan fees are subscription-style and charged one week in advance.

Splend offers a wide range of rideshare-ready vehicles (new and pre-owned), including EVs, Hybrids and selected ICE vehicles. Models may be suitable for Uber categories like Premier, Max, XL, Comfort Electric, Comfort, or Green. You can browse the current range of available cars on the Splend site.

Yes. Your Splend car must be used wholly or predominantly for rideshare work, with incidental personal use allowed. For extended personal trips (e.g. road trips), contact Customer Service to discuss arrangements.

Yes. You can nominate your partner or another relative living at the same address as a second driver. If you take out our optional Loss and Damage cover, you will be charged an additional fee of $20/week (incl. GST). They must live at the same address, be 25+, and pass Splend’s loss and damage checks. They may drive for personal use only. The primary driver is the only person permitted to use the car on Uber or other rideshare platforms.

• Ultimately vehicle use must still be wholly or predominantly for business use.

Refer another Uber driver or other rideshare driver to Splend. If they use your referral code when enquiring and sign up to a Flexi Own plan, subject to Splend's reasonable requirements:

• You receive $250 Splend credit

• They receive $250 credit if it’s a Flexi Own EV, or $50 credit if it’s a non-EV

It’s not insurance – it is our Loss and Damage Cover, whereby we indemnify our customers for any loss of, and damage to, the vehicle, during the Term. We also indemnify the customer for all property damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, up to a maximum of $10m, during the Term.

• Our Loss and Damage Cover is optional. However, if you do not take out our Loss and Damage Cover, you will be required to take out comprehensive rideshare insurance in accordance with the terms of the Flexi Own Agreement. You may also be liable for the Splend Management Fee. The Splend Management Fee is a small weekly fee of ($35 incl GST) for Splend to manage and administer the relationship between the you, Splend, and your third party insurer (if you have one). This fee is waived if you elect to take out Loss & Damage Cover with Splend and in certain other circumstances.

• However, Loss and Damage Cover is subject to various exclusions, similar to similar loss and damage product offered by rental car companies, such as:

  • Where you have driven the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or where the damage to the vehicle was occasioned by a breach of road rules

  • You should check the terms of the Flexi Own Agreement to check the exclusions and to consider whether the Loss and Damage Cover is right for you

• The Loss and Damage Cover is also subject to various rules, such as the requirement to notify Splend of any accident within 24 hours. Again, these requirements are clearly set out in the Flexi Own Agreement and Splend’s customer service team is also happy to help.

• From March 19, 2026, customers who take out Loss and Damage Cover may also opt to take out Splend’s Replacement Vehicle Inclusion, which is a small weekly fee, pursuant to which Splend will provide you with a replacement vehicle when needed, irrespective of fault. Terms and conditions are set out in the Flexi Own Agreement, and our friendly staff are always pleased to assist.

The Splend Management Fee is a small weekly fee of ($35 incl GST) for Splend to manage and administer the relationship between the you, Splend, and your third party insurer (if you have one). This fee is waived if you elect to take out Loss & Damage Cover with Splend, or if Splend otherwise waives the requirement.

The Loss and Damage Cover comprises the following costs*:

• Loss and Damage Payment – this is an optional weekly payment and represents the “cost” of the coverage / indemnification we provide in the event of an accident or other loss - It is the price of the Loss and Damage Cover

• Replacement Vehicle Inclusion - this is an optional weekly payment “add on” to the Loss and Damage Cover (which is part of, and increases your Loss and Damage Payment) to provide you with a replacement vehicle in the event of an accident or breakdown

• Loss and Damage Waiver – this payment is $1,500 and is required for Splend to waive its rights to seek recovery from the customer in the event of damage or loss (subject to the terms and conditions of the Flexi Own Agreement) so that the customer can get the vehicle back on the road as soon as possible because Splend will handle the rest

• Loss and Damage Waiver Reduction Fee – optional weekly payment, payable by the customer to Splend, which reduces the Loss and Damage Waiver payable by the event of an Accident

Ensure everyone is safe. If serious injuries, call 000 immediately. Then call Splend on 1800 775 363 and follow prompts to report an accident. All damage must be reported within 24 hours.

As our Loss and Damage Cover is not insurance, there is no excess payable however, a standard $1,500 Loss and Damage Waiver applies per claim. This allows Splend to indemnify you immediately and get you back on the road. For not-at-fault claims, the waiver may be partly or fully refunded if Splend recovers costs from the at-fault party.

• For certain Flexi Own contracts from 1 October 2025, you can pay a weekly Loss and Damage Waiver Reduction Fee to reduce your waiver to as low as $500. See details here.

Yes — you can lower your accident cost from $1,500 to as little as $500.

• The standard Loss and Damage Waiver is $1,500.

• However, if you choose to pay the optional Loss and Damage Waiver Reduction Fee each week, this amount can be reduced to as low as $500.

Our payment relief program delivers up to 4 weeks per year where you can pay a nominal sum of just $99 instead of your regular weekly payment. This may enable you to take a break from full time rideshare driving without having to worry about meeting your full payment. Payment Holidays are subject to the below eligibility criteria and the overall discretion of Splend. Payment holiday terms may change at any time.

During the payment holiday relief period you are limited to driving 200km during a single week.

• Drivers become eligible for 2 weeks of payment holiday relief after they are 6 months in to a 4 year plan, or 12 months in to a 5 year plan. Every 6 months thereafter you can request another 2 weeks of payment holiday relief.

• To be eligible for a Payment Holiday you need to have an average 4 week driver score of less than 9.0 and have not failed more than 1 payment in the previous 3 months*.

• Please note: If you decide to return the vehicle before the end of your agreement, you will be required to pay back any payment relief amounts.

Some Flexi Own Agreements may include the requirement to pay Initial Contributions.

An Initial Contribution is the payment you make prior to the commencement of the agreement identified as the “Initial Contribution” in your Quote from Splend. The Initial Contribution does not contribute to your purchase price, rather it proportionally reduces your Weekly Vehicle Payment. The Term of your agreement will remain the same, however, your Weekly Vehicle Payment will be less. Again, not all Flexi Own Agreements require an Initial Contribution.

Payments are taken weekly, every Wednesday night for the following Monday - Sunday week (charged one week in advance).

Where your Flexi Own agreement has a minimum term, these will be:

• 26 weeks (4-year plans) or 52 weeks (5-year plans).

• After the minimum term, you can end the agreement by giving 4 weeks’ notice.

• Returning the vehicle inside the minimum period incurs minimum-period charges.

Where your Flexi Own agreement does not have a minimum period but instead sets out a “Termination Amount” for early termination:

• The Termination Amount will be payable if you end your agreement before the end of the term. This will be 16 weeks of your vehicle payments (Part A) + a $1500 remarketing fee less a pro-rated allowance for the amount of any Initial Contribution you have made. This can be avoided by taking out Payout Protection (see below) which is mandatory in certain cases.

• All applicable fees and charges are set out in the Flexi Own agreement.

Payout Protection Fee (optional)

• For a small weekly fee, you can add a Payout Protection Fee to your Flexi Own agreement (where applicable).

• This covers you for early termination and ensures that the Termination Amount will not be payable (for early terminations outside of the first 12 months). Other fees and charges may be payable, such as where the vehicle is returned in poor condition. Check the Flexi Own agreement for further details.

• The Termination amount is still payable if you terminate in the first 12 months.

• The Payout Protection Fee is mandatory for certain customers based on their assessed risk. Refer to our additional fee terms for more detail.

Yes. All cars are supplied with up-to-date, state-specific documentation so you’re ready for Uber and other rideshare work.

For most vehicles servicing is included. Consult the website, or speak to one of our friendly staff for details. Where included, scheduled servicing plus normal-wear replacement brakes and tyres are included up to the limits in your contract*. Each manufacturer service must be completed within 2,000 km of the interval. Allow up to one day off-road.

Roadside Assistance is provided (battery jump, fuel/charging, flat tyres, towing, lockouts) as part of our optional Loss and Damage Cover. Vehicles also come with manufacturer warranty for defects. A replacement vehicle may be provided in some warranty cases (subject to availability) and where you have taken out the Replacement Vehicle Inclusion add on to the Loss and Damage Cover.

Non-warranty repairs (e.g., punctures, panel or glass damage) are your responsibility.

If you don’t attend servicing within 2,000km of the required interval, or you miss a booked Splend service, you’ll be charged the actual cost incurred, and in some instance, your agreement may be terminated.

Punctures are not covered as normal wear under servicing or Loss and Damage Cover. In the event of a puncture, if you have our Loss and Damage Cover, call roadside assistance on 1800 775 363 and arrange replacement at your cost.

Tyres are replaced for wear within contract limits. We recommend replacement at ~2 mm tread depth.

• Note: Roadside Assistance is only included if your plan has Loss and Damage cover. Book tyre replacement via the Splend app or 1800 775 363.

We follow the AFIA Fair Wear and Tear Guide. Normal wear based on age/mileage is accepted. Any non-fair wear damage must be repaired at your cost.

You’ll need to cover the toll or infringement amount plus an additional $22.73 (excl. GST) administration fee per notice. This includes unpaid tolls, speeding fines, parking tickets, or other infringements.

Yes. The full setup fee applies if you return and later rejoin. The set-up fee covers Splend’s administrative costs with ordering your vehicle and creating or updating onboarding documentation and other records.

You’ll be responsible for paying any government fees or charges that become payable.

You may drive an unlimited number of kilometres. However, if you take out Loss and Damage Cover, and you exceed 1,000km, you will be charged an Additional Mileage Charge. Please see the Flexi Own agreement for more details.

When you drive above 1,000 kms (and you have taken out Loss and Damage Cover), you will be charged $1 per 10 kilometres (incl. GST) that you drive over 1,000 kms in any 7 day week, rounded up or down, to the nearest 10km interval.

If you don't pay your Weekly Payments you will be charged a Failed Payment Fee of $40. Contact the payments team if you think you may miss a payment — alternative payment arrangements may be possible. Continued non‑payment can lead to termination and charges. Further details will be set out in your Agreement with Splend.

The Payout Protection Fee is a small weekly fee payable in order to have the Termination Amount (our break early fee) waived in the event of early termination, so long as such termination does not occur within the first 12 months of your Flexi Own Agreement with Splend. The Payout Protection Fee is not available in all Flexi-Own Agreements - details will be in the Agreement Splend provides to you. There may be other applicable fees upon termination (for instance if the vehicle was damaged) – check the Flexi Own Agreement for further details.

Where your Flexi Own Agreement includes a Payout Protection Fee, it will be mandatory, unless an exemption applies or if Splend otherwise waives the requirement. In those circumstances, the Payout Protection Fee will be optional. The possible grounds for an exemption are (you will need to provide documentary evidence and subject to Splend's discretion):

• Completed over 5,000 rideshare trips; OR (you will need to demonstrate this in an App/s)’ OR

• Meaningful proven history of chauffeur work, subject to Splend’s discretion (you will need to provide a copy of a relevant contract or invoices); OR

• Meaningful proven history of buying & selling multiple vehicles, subject to Splend’s discretion (you will need to provide documentary evidence such as car loan statements); OR

• Evidence of owning your own home (you will need to provide documentary evidence such as a Mortgage Statement); OR

• Meaningful and consistent evidence of separate income provided and approved, subject to Splend’s discretion (you will need to provide documentary evidence such as payslips or PAYG summary/statements); OR

• Provide a credit check to Splend’s reasonable satisfaction and approval

The Payout Protection Fee is a weekly payment ranging from $10-$30 per week based on vehicle class.  Customers who are paying the Payout Protection Fee, can choose to remove it after 3 years.

No — it has to be included at the start of your contract. It’s there to protect you from the unexpected, and once you opt in, you’re covered after 12 months.

If you lose your vehicle keys/cards, you will be charged an additional fee to replace the keys/card. Payable per instance, fee dependent on the make, model and year of vehicle. 

You’ll be charged the cost of refuelling/recharging plus any repairs or damage costs caused by using the wrong fuel.

If your vehicle is repossessed, you may be charged for:

• The cost of repossession plus any agent or legal costs

• Refuelling/recharging if the tank or battery isn’t full

• Special cleaning services if the vehicle is returned in a dirty condition, dependent on the level of cleaning required

• Replacement costs if items like the logbook or car jack are missing

If your vehicle is towed, impounded, or picked up by council/police, you’ll need to pay the enforcement or towing costs, plus up to $227.28 (excl. GST) for Splend’s administration fee.

Provide 4 weeks’ written notice to Splend.

• If your Flexi Own Agreement has a “minimum term”, you may only return the vehicle on 4 weeks’ notice if you have completed that term. Otherwise termination fees and charges will apply*

• If your Flexi Own Agreement does not have a “minimum term”, but instead imposes that you must pay Splend a termination amount (if you seek to end the agreement early), then you must pay this amount, unless you have been paying the Payout Protection Fee for at least 52 weeks.*

Most drivers choose Flexi Own because they want the option to own their car at the end of their agreement. Once you’ve completed your subscription period, you can make an offer to purchase the car from Splend. Here’s how it works:

1. You let us know you’re interested in buying.

2. Make us an Offer no less than $990.

3. We review your offer and if we accept it, guide you through the process of transferring ownership.

4. Where you qualify for any rebates due to you, these will be offset against your agreed acquisition price (net price would be $1).

Splend does not charge additional fees at the end of the contract.

If Splend accepts your offer to purchase the vehicle in accordance with the Flexi Own agreement, payment must be settled within 7 days. Stamp duty associated with the purchase is payable directly to the government.

Yes. Certain charges such as Registration, CTP, and where applicable, Loss and Damage Cover may be adjusted to reflect price increases from time to time on reasonable notice. Other fees and charges will only be made with at least 4 weeks' notice. Full details available in your Agreement with Splend.

Yes — as long as Splend approves the move and it’s to a city where we operate. You can take your Splend vehicle to another city in Australia if:

• You first get written permission from Splend (we won’t unreasonably say no).

• The new city is within 200km of a Splend Hub.

If approved, you’ll need to cover all costs of the move. This includes things like transferring the vehicle registration to the new state, updating CTP and any other related fees. Splend may also place other reasonable terms and conditions on such approval, depending on where you seek to move.

When you're ready to upgrade to a Flexi Own vehicle, contact Customer Support to choose a Flexi Own vehicle. A Flexi Own setup fee applies but is discounted by the Flexi Try setup fee already paid. When your new vehicle is ready, Splend will schedule delivery and the return of your Flexi Try car. You may also choose to convert the plan for your current Flexi Try vehicle to Flexi Own but paying the additional Flexi Own Ste up fee. Flexi Own offers similar inclusions to Flexi Try but offers a path to vehicle ownership.

Flexi Try startup costs include:

1. A one‑time setup fee (non‑refundable, not a deposit);

2. A pro‑rata payment for your weekly payment for the rest of the week of collection (up to Sunday);

3. A first full week billed in advance for the next week.

Your Agreement with Splend will contain the full details

In addition to the car, the Flexi Try plan covers your vehicle registration, rideshare loss and damage cover, scheduled servicing, replacement tyres and brakes (up to specified limits) and 24/7 roadside assistance.*

Yes. Scheduled servicing, replacement for wear of brakes and tyres (up to specified limits) and repairs under manufacturer warranty are covered. Other items (e.g., bodywork, glass repairs, tyre punctures) are your responsibility. Please refer to the Flexi Try Agreement for full details.

You must follow the manufacturer schedule (depending on vehicle this is typically every 10,000-15,000 kilometres). Complete each service within 1000km of being due; allow up to 1 working day off‑road. Additional repairs such as punctures, wheel alignments or panel damage not covered by scheduled servicing that occur while the vehicle is in your possession may be chargeable; contact Customer Service if unsure.

We operate in accordance with the Australian Finance Industry Association (AFIA) Fair Wear and Tear Guide. We accept wear and tear that is reasonable given your car’s age/mileage. Damage outside fair wear & tear must be repaired at your cost.

Damage to your tyres beyond normal wear including punctures will not be covered by the replacement tyres in your package. Tyres and rims must not be damaged beyond normal wear as defined in the Australian Finance Industry Association (AFIA) Fair Wear and Tear Guide when the car is returned. Any such damage must be repaired at your cost.

Windscreen damage isn’t covered under the subscription or Loss & Damage cover. Windscreen damage includes scratches, chipping, cracks, holes or damage . All such damage may affect the roadworthy status of the vehicle and may subsequently worsen over time. Book a repair promptly at your cost to prevent further damage.

Normal‑wear replacement of tyres, brake pads and brake discs are included up to the limits stated in your contract.

Flat/punctured tyres are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, replacement tyres due to wear, or the Loss and Damage cover. If you get a puncture, you will need to arrange to have the tyre replaced at your cost. Roadside assistance is available if required by calling 1800 775 363.

Returns are assessed under the AFIA Fair Wear and Tear Guide; reasonable wear for age/mileage is accepted. Fair Wear and Tear excludes any scratch where the metal, plastic or undercoat is exposed.

Your agreement includes a weekly driving allowance. Excess mileage above this weekly limit is charged at $1 per 10km.

Payments are taken weekly, every Wednesday night for the following Monday - Sunday week (charged one week in advance).

If You don't pay your weekly payments you will be charged a Failed Payment Fee of $40. Contact the payments team if you think you may miss a payment — alternative payment arrangements may be possible. Continued non‑payment can lead to termination and charges (including minimum‑period fees).

Yes, Splend reserves the right to change its Flexi Try plan pricing. Your weekly fee is subject to additional fees for unpaid toll fees or fines (including an administration fee), late payment fees if your weekly payment is not paid on time and additional kilometre charges for kilometers over your weekly allowance. If the car returns in the same condition as onboarding (allowing for fair wear & tear), and after the minimum term of your agreement no return fee applies. Re‑charging/cleaning and damage beyond fair wear and tear are chargeable. Fees may apply. Please see the Flexi Try Agreement for full details.

For early return within the minimum term or if you don’t have Payout Protection, break fees apply which will vary depending on your contract. The notice period in your contract still applies. Fees may apply speak to our sales team or look at your contract for details.

There are lots of options for charging an EV in Australia.

• Level 1: Standard Power Point (240V)

  • Uses a normal household socket.

  • Adds about 10–15 km of range per hour.

  • Best for low-mileage drivers or overnight top-ups.

  • Downside: Very slow for full-time driving — a 60kWh battery (e.g., Tesla Model Y) can take 30+ hours to charge from empty.

• Level 2: Dedicated Home Charger (7kW–22kW)

  • Installed by an electrician.

  • A typical 60kWh battery charges in 4–10 hours — perfect for overnight.

  • Can use EV electricity plans to take advantage of cheaper off-peak rates.

  • Cost to install at home: approximately $1,000–$2,500 including hardware and installation.

• Level 3: DC Fast Charger

  • Found at Public charging stations and places like shopping centres.

  • Charge in 20–30 minutes.

  • Great for quick top-ups, but not as cost-effective for daily use.

Approximate times vary by battery and charger: home 7 kW wallbox ~9 hours for a 60 kWh battery; 11kW charger ~5.5 hours; 22kW charger ~3 hours - public rapid 50 kW ~1 hour; ultra‑rapid 150 - 350 kW can add significant range in ~15 - 20 minutes on compatible models.

Most EVs include a Type 2 cable (Mennekes charger), compatible with most charging stations in Australia. This supports both single-phase and three-phase AC charging. Many also come with a Combined Charging System and CCS Combo 2 (CCS2) plug which is compatible with a Type 2 socket but also has two extra pins for DC (fast and Ultra fast) public charging.

• Both at home and public rapid charging costs vary by provider and often time of day. Some sites offer free or discounted charging (e.g., workplaces/supermarkets). Uber’s EV programmes (e.g., bp pulse) may reduce costs with charging credits.

• Petrol and Diesel costs also vary but based on $1.90/L and fuel consumption of 8.5L/100km a petrol vehicle would cost $161.50 per 1000km to refuel.

It’s normal to feel anxious about EV range, especially if you’re new to electric cars. Here’s what to do if you’re worried about running out of charge:

• Plan ahead with charging apps – Use an EV charging locator app to see charging stations near you. Save the closest ones to your regular routes.

• Top up during breaks – Whenever you stop for 30 minutes or more, plug in your car to add extra range.

• Monitor your range – Most EVs show how many kilometres of charge you’ll have left at the end of your trip. For example, the Polestar 2 updates you on current and predicted range in real time.

• Have a backup plan – If your battery gets low, make sure you know the location of the nearest charger so you can get there without stress.

Typically Uber Green; some models also qualify for Uber Comfort Electric which is an EV only category. Vehicles may also be eligible for other Uber categories such as Uber Premier, Uber XL, Uber Max and Uber Comfort depending on vehicle specifications. Rarely. Most manufacturers provide 8‑year battery warranties. Capacity loss is gradual; replacements are uncommon within a vehicle’s typical ownership period.
