Uber has confirmed that its EV Assistance programme — funded through the Uber Clean Air Plan and paid out from each driver's individual Clean Air Fund — is coming to a close. The scheme has supported thousands of PCO drivers in London switching to electric vehicles since it launched in January 2019. Why is Uber closing the EV Assistance programme?

Uber says the scheme has largely done its job — most of the money collected through the Clean Air Plan has already reached drivers who made the switch over the past few years. Rather than let the remaining Clean Air Fund pot trickle out gradually, Uber is closing the programme and paying out what's left in one go to drivers who still qualify.

How the Clean Air Fund lump-sum payment works

If you still have a Clean Air Fund balance and EV Assistance active, your remaining monthly payments will be converted into a single upfront amount — but only if you meet the qualifying activity below.

Drivers who qualify will have the lump sum paid automatically on 10 September 2026 — there's nothing extra to apply for.
